Oleaceae (Olive) Family. Native range—Southeastern USA. Beautiful flowering deciduous tree can reach 12-20 feet tall. Burst of fragrant white flowers late Spring. Requires moist, well-draining, rich soil. Full sun to part shade. Edible fruit.

SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Mix seeds with moist soil 4x seeds volume. Place in a plastic bag or container.
STRATIFICATION: 120 days warm/moist (20°C), a spot out of direct light is good. Monitor for mold. 60 days cold/moist (5°C), in your fridge is a good spot for this. Check on periodically.
POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow stratified seeds 3/8” deep. Soil temperature of 20°C is ideal for germination. Keep soil moist.
GERMINATION: Naturally challenging, generally occurs in 90 days, but seeds may only germinate the following Spring.
