Poppy Seeds - Amazing Grey

Amazing Grey Poppies are like watching a painting come to life. Sir Cedric Morris, both a plant breeder and artist, developed this variety after WWI. Through careful isolation and a passion for poppies, this beauty was born! Its soft lilac mauve coloration and ruffled double and single blooms are truly unique. Amazing Grey is a highly sought after variety, one would say it almost has a cult following, and we are so happy to share this beauty with you!  

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

TIMING: Direct sow outdoors in early Spring. Will benefit from a few frosts.  

GERMINATION: 7-30 days. Keep soil moist until germination. 

SEEDING: Sow seeds on the soil surface, tamp down gently. Space plants 6”-12” apart. 

GROWING: Full sun, well-draining average soil. Will readily self-seed, plant in a spot where this is desired. Easy to grow! 

HARVESTING: For cut flowers, pick stems just as the buds are opening. They will open fully once in water. To help prolong the vase life of poppies, place freshly cut stems in just boiled water for 15 seconds, then directly into cool water. This helps seal their stems, retaining their sap. Seed heads can also be used in arrangements for their ornamental beauty, both fresh or dried.
