Hibiscus Seeds - Crimsoneyed Rosemallow
(Hibiscus moscheutos) Perennial shrub. Deciduous. Zones 4 - 10
Crimsoneyed Rosemallow, also known as Swamp Mallow, is a vigorous and hardy native perennial that has become a threatened species. Rosemallow grows up to 8 feet, with many sturdy stems, and spreads by root masses. It will thrive in a wetland or water garden and tolerates frost.
The grayish-green leaves are heart-shaped. The large, creamy white flowers have a band of burgundy, like an eye at the center, against which bright yellow stamens stand out in contrast. The alluring, five-petaled flowers attract hummingbirds, butterflies and pollinators.
