Eastern Ninebark Seeds
(Physocarpus opulifolius) Perennial. Zones 2 - 7. Flowering Shrub.
Eastern Nine Bark is a beautiful, and versatile shrub, native to Eastern North America. This plant is often used in restoration projects as it can help mitigate erosion damage and can grow in poor soil.
Standing alone, as a hedge or along slopes or banks, Eastern Ninebark blooms in late Spring. Once established, cascading branches of spirea-like white flowers will add to your landscape and welcome many beneficial insects to your space.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, sow seeds outdoors early-Fall in a cold frame with mulch or late-Winter/early-Spring in a greenhouse. If sowing indoors...
SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds in water for 24 hours. Mix seeds with a moistened grow medium equal to 3-4 times seed volume. Place in a plastic bag, covered tray/cells or container.
STRATIFICATION: 60 days cold/moist (5°C). Place plastic bag with seeds and soil in your refrigerator, preferably in a veggie crisper. Inspect periodically for even moisture/germination.
POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow stratified seeds on the soil surface, tamp down gently. Keep soil moist, but not soggy. Mulch with a layer of sawdust, 1/4" thick.
GERMINATION: When all previously mentioned requirements are fulfilled, germination generally occurs in 20-30 days.
