Growth Habit: Upright growth to 3 feet on long, sturdy stems with uniform flowering
Sun Requirements: Full sun to part shade
Soil Preference: Rich, well-drained, moist soil
When to Plant: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before last Spring frost.
How to Plant:
Transplant: sow seeds indoors in flats or containers 8-10 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds on the soil surface and lightly tamp them without covering them. Seeds will germinate in 7-21 days. Transplant them into larger containers when true leaves appear. Harden off seedlings before transplanting after all risk of frost is passed. Space plants 1 foot apart.
When to Harvest: Harvest Snapdragon through Spring, Summer, and into Fall. Will tolerate light frost.
How to Harvest: Harvest when more than half the flowers are open.
Uses: Snapdragon is an elegant fresh cut flower with long vase life. Edible flowers make beautiful decorations in desserts and salads - flavour is floral although slightly bitter. Flowers attract beneficial pollinators.
