Wisteria Seeds - American
(Wisteria frutescens) Perennial. Zones 5 - 9.
Fabaceae (Pea) Family. Native range—Eastern USA (L48).
Spring flowers are lilac purple and bloom on new wood. Vines require sturdy support in full sun, wind protected. More compact and easier to manage than Chinese Wisteria. Seeds are toxic.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds in water for 24 hours.
STRATIFICATION: No stratification period is required
POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow soaked seeds 1/4” deep, ideally in a peat/perlite mix. Soil temperatures between 13-18°C for best germination results.
GERMINATION: When all previously mentioned requirements are fulfilled, germination generally occurs in 30-60 days.
