Late Flat Dutch Cabbage is an all-around classic, firm, good tasting cabbage. This variety was brought to the United States from Germany in the 1840's and is a great choice for your homemade sauerkraut needs. Late Flat Dutch Cabbage is a slow grower, but in the end, can grow up to 15 pounds - an excellent late-fall/winter cabbage. Fun Fact: This cabbage was listed in the 1924 catalog of D. M. Ferry & Co., which can be read in its entirety (gardeners need something to do in the winter) at the Biodiversity Online Library.
